Who are we?

Our Story

Choosing flooring shouldn't be overwhelming. It should be clear, calm and done right the first time. I'm Leon Bell. I learned the trade from the ground up and I make sure our advice and our workmanship live up to our family name. This craft is my passion.

My father, Ron, opened Southport Carpets on the Gold Coast in 1987 with a simple way of doing business: be honest, do quality work, look after people. I was born and bred in this industry. As a kid I grew up in the warehouse, cutting carpet lengths for installers and organising pallets for hard flooring jobs. As a young teenager I joined Dad and my older brother helping out on school holidays when extra hands were needed. In 2003 I officially started my apprenticeship, and today I lead the team at Bell Carpets. The name has evolved, but the standard hasn't.

We are a family-owned, boutique flooring specialists. Our passion and deep expertise are built on that family legacy in carpet. We've extended that same 'Bell Standard' to a complete, curated collection of premium hard flooring, including vinyl, laminate, and engineered timber. Our entire range is carefully chosen for Gold Coast homes—we keep it curated, not crowded, so the right option is easier to find.

What you can expect from us is a calm, straightforward process. We listen first, ask the right questions and give clear advice. We visit your home, measure carefully and provide a transparent quote with realistic timelines. If something isn't right for your space, we will say so. If there's a smarter way to get the outcome you want, we will point you there.

Our installers are a small, hand-picked team we have trusted for years. They care about the finish as much as we do. This means sub-floors prepared properly, seams straight and tight, carpet stretched correctly, trims neat, and everything left spotless. They solve problems onsite without fuss and treat your home with respect. In our view, they are the best in the business—I would have any one of them working in my own home.

On installation day we turn up when we say we will, protect your home and leave it tidy. You have one point of contact from start to finish, so you always know what's happening and who to call. After the job is complete, we check in and remain available for any questions or guidance. We stand by our work.

Most of our work comes from returning clients and referrals. That trust means everything to us. We earn it by keeping our word, delivering a quality finish and treating every home with respect.
